Miss Okefenokee Pageant

 

The Okefenokee Chamber of Commerce announces the Miss Okefenokee Beauty Pageant. The Chamber invites and encourages participation from all surrounding areas. The Pageant will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at the Okefenokee Educational and Research Center, 500 Kingsland Drive, Folkston, Georgia.

The St. Mary's Aerie #4379 Fraternal Order of Eagles meet the first and third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Aerie home at 101-C Industrial Drive in St. Mary's. The MOMS Club of Kingsland, a support group for stay-at-home mothers and their children, has at least two play dates per week and a MOMS Night Out once per month. Play dates include activities at local parks, birthday parties, bowling, crafts, trips to Jacksonville Children's’ Museums and to Brunswick pony rides. For more information, call (912) 729-1828.

The St. Mary's Submarine Museum Board of Directors meets at 9 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the museum, located at 102 St. Mary's St. The meetings are open to the public. A shag-bop-swing dancing group meets from 7:30 to 10 p.m. each Wednesday at the Ramada Inn in Kingsland. Dancers are invited to come and join the fun.

The Woodbine Farmers’ Market at Satilla Waterfront Park is now open for its 2003 season. Sponsored by Better Hometown Woodbine the market selling fresh fruits, vegetables and other farm and garden products will be open each Wednesday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The committee is seeking customers and vendors to expand the market. The first Friday Low Country Boil will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month in front of the Woodbine Community Center in Woodbine. The cost is $10 and proceeds will benefit the programs of the Coastal Georgia American Legion, the veterans, their families, widows and orphans.

Meetings of the Cumberland Sound Woodcarving Guild will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on the first and third Sundays of the month at Knock on Wood in Kingsland.
The Kings Bay Area Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. Networking/social hour begins at 6 p.m. Meeting locations are announced monthly. Participation is open to all working women in Camden County, regardless of position or type of work. The Humane Society of Camden County, Inc.’s board of directors meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month, January through November, at the animal shelter, located at 950 S. Grove Blvd. in Kingsland. The meetings are open to the public.

Habitat for Humanity of Camden County holds a monthly meeting of its board of directors on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. The office is located at 100 Miller St. in St. Mary's. The St. Mary's Saltwater Fishing Association meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Eagles club off Pt. Peter Road behind the new police station. Members come together for meetings which include, fishing tips, guest speakers and good times. Anglers don’t need to have a boat to be a member, just a love of fishing.
